Spring Break and stuff

I can’t believe we are still dreaming about spring and summer weather.  Instead of complaining about it, I have decided to just make the best of it.  We will just keep planning indoor play dates, art projects and trips to the mall and the library. We did make it out once with daddy one afternoon during spring break.  This is what it was like...

Along with being overly excited to wear sandals again, I’ve also been semi-stressed about the up-coming summer months. My thoughts  surrounding trying to corral the boys in our corner lot with no plan in place makes me squirm. Our My plan was to simply put up a fence.  Without a fence I will be constantly worried if there is a car coming or if the neighbors wonder why I can't keep my kids in their own yard.  Seriously, how do you do that with one super independent who loves to explore and investigate and another who is not so quick to escape and needs help with everything outside!?  Really! Input is welcome. We have great neighbors who don’t mind us playing on their play gyms and trampoline but keeping them both happy and safe with all of that stimulation and temptation in every direction makes me just plain anxious.  I know, I know a rich persons’ problem.  (Reference to a message we heard at Heartland not too long ago.) All in all, I am thankful that we have great neighbors and live in a safe neighborhood with lots of great opportunities for fun. I am also thankful we have a home and that we can even have the conversation about doing home improvements. Tune in next month to see if any progress has been made in that department.

Caleb and I got to go see Veggie Tales Live late last month. (Sorry for the poor quality pic) He received tickets to go see Bob and Larry’s Birthday Celebration as a birthday gift from his buddy, Brooks.  He had a blast and asks to wear his new Incredible Veggie Tales t-shirt at least three times a week.  His little face lit up at the sight of his favorite veggie, Jr. Asparagus aka Ricochet, it was just plain adorable.  All the songs we sang at the show did something inside of him that can only be explained in pure 3 year old joy. Needless to say it was a successful first Mommy and Caleb date.  I am secretly happy that we can now choose from 3 or 4 different Veggie movies instead of ALWAYS having to watch you know what Every. Single. Time. It has been a refreshing and a much needed change to say the least.  Just this morning we were reading books in his bed and I said something like, “Caleb you have a really great room, someone must really love you…..who really loves you?” his response; “JESUS!” My heart melted. What a fabulous answer.

Easter weekend was just as simple and enjoyable as always. Mom made some yummy meals and we enjoyed some more quality time with family. The boys got to hang out a bit with their cousins and Carlo and I even snuck out one afternoon to enjoy a latte together. The weather was poopy, but we still managed to have a nice time. Saturday afternoon Ga-Ga and Papa took us to the Wild Life Santuary to see the ducks and the cool "pitch -dark- tube slide" inside one of the exhibit buildings.  Caleb was so brave and was still talking about it the following week.  We had a blast watching the boys discover new things and were happy to be able to spend some much needed time outdoors. Thanks you Lord for sweet memories like these.

This just in: Josh is walking! It has been a long time coming. We’ve been practicing forever, it seems.  His big brother seemed to have gone from crawling to running in a matter of days before he ever turned one.  Our sweet, 15 month chunk-a-roo, just this past week finally went from a few side-steps now and then, to walking straight forward with his chubby little arms out in front of him.  I discovered he does this, not surprisingly, because you know who, likes to run at full speed toward his baby brother and take a quick turn at the last second before crashing into him. Poor thing.  It’s a good thing Josh packs a few more pounds and is a bit more solid than Caleb was at this age.  The two of them love each other so much.  It is heartwarming to finally see them being brothers and actually enjoying each other’s companionship lately. But, if you have children of your own or just know some small children at all, you also know that just as soon as you see a sweet hug, kiss or giggle the very  next second there might be tears or a bonk on the head due to a baby brawl or a toy war. Oh, well.

We are so excited to announce the latest addition to the family. Baby Isabella Cecilia Tigley was born April 7th, 9 pounds and 15 ounces! The biggest baby of the family! Congrats Ximenita, we are so happy for you and your family. SHE IS PRECIOUS!

Well I think that’s it for now. We hope and plan to get outside today for a little fresh air.  Now, where did I put those scarves?
